Penelitian ini mengkaji proses pengubahan motivasi belajar Bahasa Arab santriwati dari yang bersifat ekstrinsik menuju intrinsik di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ilmi Tualang, sebagai respon terhadap kecenderungan penelitian terdahulu yang masih fokus pada hubungan statistik antara motivasi dan hasil belajar tanpa menjelaskan bagaimana proses pelestarian tersebut berlangsung. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan perbedaan profil motivasi belajar antara santriwati jenjang SMP dan SMA, serta mengungkap mekanisme dan faktor-faktor yang mendorong terjadinya peralihan tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan rencana studi kasus, melibatkan tujuh informan kunci santriwati dan satu ustadzah pengampu Bahasa Arab yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling, dengan data yang dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan studi dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar bergerak melalui tiga fase: pada jenjang SMP, motivasi masih didominasi oleh regulasi eksternal berupa kepatuhan terhadap aturan demi menghindari hukuman; pada masa transisi kelas IX, interaksi sosial dan kehadiran tokoh teladan mulai membuka ruang bagi motivasi yang lebih positif; dan pada jenjang SMA, motivasi bergerak ke arah regulasi otonom dan intrinsik, ditandai dengan tumbuhnya efikasi diri, berkurangnya beban kognitif dalam berbahasa, serta kesadaran spiritual bahwa Bahasa Arab merupakan kunci untuk memahami ilmu-ilmu keagamaan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa durasi tinggal dan proses pembiasaan jangka panjang di lingkungan pesantren menjadi prasyarat utama bagi terjadinya internalisasi motivasi, sehingga melengkapi temuan penelitian terdahulu yang bersifat korelasional dengan gambaran proses pelestarian motivasi secara kualitatif.
